The Guardian reports on yet more counterterrorism idiocy, regarding a woman who was merely trying to document what the police were doing: Lawyers for Gemma Atkinson, a 27-year-old who was detained after filming police officers conduct a routine stop and search on her boyfriend, believe her case is the latest example of how police are [...] In perhaps the most daft attack on blogging as free speech, the High Court in London (UK) has ruled bloggers have no right to anonymity, as reported by Yahoo! News UK. The basis of the ruling comes under the assertion that “blogging is essentially a public rather than a private activity.” I am horrified at [...] It’s simply amazing what some bored kids will do, as reported in this story from livescience.com. The students at this UK school spelled out a word for male genitalia (note: not a proper medical term) on the school’s roof, where it was then spotted by a satellite and appeared on Google Earth. |
